The Carnegie Arts Center, formally the Carnegie Library, was built in 1913 by Fred Hunt in the Italian Renaissance Revival style as a one story building over a half-raised full basement. Eight steps lead to the front doors, bordered by two short ionic columns on pedestals. Originally the Goodland Public Library, it was one of fifty-nine Carnegie Libraries in Kansas and served as the public library for 60 years until a new library was built in 1973. From 1975 to 1983 it housed the Senior Citizens Center, and in 1989 it became the arts center. It remains much as it was when built in 1913, with the main difference being the installation of a mechanical lift. Because of its architectural significance, the building was added to the National and State Registers of Historic Places in 1985.
