In 1873 pioneer settler Thomas Alexander Williams brought his family to the area then known as Garden Valley and soon directed the establishment of a school for the community. Classes were held at this site, originally part of Williams' farm. After the Nash Post Office opened in 1883, the school was renamed, and it remained in operation until 1938, when it closed and its students were transferred to nearby districts. The existing two-story frame building, which served as the second schoolhouse, is now used as a community center.
