Emmanuel Episcopal Church was designed in 1884 by Henry Hobson Richardson, one of America's premier architects, and its construction was supervised by F.E. Alden. Designated a National Historic Landmark, the site possesses national significance in commemorating the history of the United States of America. A large nave culminates in a rounded apse, and the modest scale gives the church a modern quality.
