Belle Center
Transportation
Belle Center was platted in April 1846 by D. Colvin, R. Hemphill, and R. Mitchell. Plentiful wood and water made the site an important stop on the Lake Erie and Mad River Railroad, the first railroad in Ohio. According to local legend, many pretty girls lived in the area, and for that reason it was called a "Center of Belles."
