Eisenhower State Park is a 423.1-acre Texas state park on Lake Texoma northwest of Denison, named for Denison native and U.S. president Dwight D. Eisenhower. The area had earlier importance as a route for Anglo settlers heading toward Texas and the American Southwest in the early 1830s and as part of cattle-trail country. Acquired in 1954 through a lease from the United States Department of the Army, the park opened in 1958 and is managed by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. It serves as a major lakeside recreation area, with trails, camping, fishing, boating, a marina, and habitats that support diverse wildlife and native plant life.
