Plimoth Grist Mill in Plymouth, Massachusetts, stands on the site of a colonial mill first built in 1636 by Pilgrim John Jenney, who arrived in 1623 aboard the Little James. Run by the Jenney and Church families before ownership fragmented in the 1720s, the mill was destroyed by fire in the mid-1840s, and later mills on the property focused more on manufacturing. Reconstructed on its original site in 1969, it is now a working mill and museum that grinds grain, demonstrates traditional milling, and produces cornmeal and grits. Its brookside setting also connects it to the spring alewife run, now strengthened by restoration efforts.
