At Chi Chi Pi Ou Ti pe Twin Lakes in Marshall County, the Pottawatomie Indian Church, the first church there, was erected in 1827 by Father Badin, the first Catholic priest ordained in the U.S. In 1838 the Indians were moved westward, and the chapel was forever closed.
