The Quintin Blair House in Cody, Wyoming, was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and built in 1952–1953, the only Wright building in the state. It grew from Ruth and Quintin Blair’s 1951 visit to Taliesin West, where Wright agreed to design them a house and urged them to choose a rural site. Reflecting his “natural house” ideal, the design closely ties architecture to landscape through locally quarried sandstone, a low flaring roof, and a glass-walled living room with mitered corners and a triangular piano niche. Set on 40 acres near a creek and pond, the house was later enlarged and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.
