Felton Little Park
Education
Felton Little Park in Auburn, Alabama, is the city’s oldest municipal park. Created as Auburn City Park, it provided a centrally located public park and athletic facilities for Auburn High School, whose teams had previously played at nearby Auburn University. Felton Little, an Auburn city councilman, donated the land in 1947, and the park was dedicated in 1949 during Auburn High’s game against Tuskegee High School, which became Auburn’s first night football game because of the field lights. The park remained a center of Auburn High baseball and football for nearly two decades before school sports moved elsewhere, and the site was later converted for youth baseball and then softball.
