The Battle of Fort Blakely on April 9, 1865, was the last major battle of the Civil War. This 67-acre part of the Blakeley Battlefield was acquired in 2002 with assistance from grants from the Land and Water Conservation Fund administered by the National Park Service, the Civil War Preservation Trust, and the Historic Blakeley Foundation, together with the aid of the owner, Alan H. Belcher DVM.
