A post office was established in Pearce Camp in 1896, with the Soto Bros and Chattman Store serving as the first location and Thomas Chattman as the first appointed postmaster. It was later relocated to this adobe building, where Gladys McLeod was the last post mistress to serve at this location. The post office was moved to the Sunsites area in 1967.
