Princess Cornblossom
History
8
Princess Cornblossom was the daughter of Chief Doublehead and is buried here. According to legend, as a young girl she accompanied her father at the signing of the Treaty of Sycamore Shoals in 1775, which transferred Cherokee land between the Ohio and Cumberland rivers to the Transylvania Society. The As'Quaw tribe settled in the region south of the river. While protecting the tribe's secret mine, she killed a renegade, and she later married Big Jake, a trader.
