The Home of Governor Augustus W. Bradford
Towson, Maryland
Military
Governor Augustus W. Bradford’s home once stood on this site, and Confederate troops burned it on July 11, 1864, in retaliation for the burning of Governor Letcher’s home in Virginia by Federal troops. This was the closest point to Baltimore reached during the war by Confederate troops.
