Broad River Greenway
Nature
Broad River Greenway is a protected preserve and regional park along the Broad River in Cleveland County, North Carolina, established in 1994 and expanded through later land acquisitions. Spanning 1,436 acres on both sides of the river, it preserves a landscape long used for recreation and shaped by a river that once sustained Native American communities and served as a travel corridor between the Blue Ridge foothills and Atlantic tidewaters. The greenway protects aquatic, wetland, and forest habitats rich in birds, mammals, and wildflowers, and it also includes the historic Phifer cabin, a mid-1800s log structure moved there in 1997.
