Milton J. Rubenstein Museum of Science and Technology
Science & Tech
The Milton J. Rubenstein Museum of Science and Technology in downtown Syracuse grew from a community effort begun in 1977 to create a public center for science and technology with participatory exhibits and educational programs. It opened in 1981 as the Discovery Center, then moved in 1992 into the former Syracuse Armory after becoming a well-established local institution. In its larger historic home, it developed hands-on galleries on subjects ranging from dinosaurs and earth science to energy, engineering, telecommunications, and minerals. Its theater and planetarium became major attractions, and a 2022 renovation replaced them with an upgraded dome theater and media lab.
