South Mountain is a Catskill mountain in New York southwest of West Durham, spanning Greene County and extending partly into Schoharie County. Nearby summits include Ashland Pinnacle to the west-southwest and Steenburg Mountain to the north. The mountain is closely associated with the 1,498-acre South Mountain State Forest, which makes it a well-known local destination for outdoor recreation, including hiking, camping, hunting, and skiing.
