The Eleven Point National Wild and Scenic River preserves a forty-four-mile spring-fed stretch of the Eleven Point River in southern Missouri's Ozarks from Thomasville to State Highway 142. Set aside by Congress in 1968, it became one of the original eight rivers protected under the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act after not being included in the Ozark National Scenic Riverways established in 1964. Its scenic designation keeps the river free of impoundments and largely undeveloped, though not entirely untouched, as traces of older farms, roads, and homesites remain. Known especially as a floating stream, it offers canoeing, fishing, float camps, and gravel-bar camping in a quiet river corridor.
