In the 1930s, Wirt Harlin created Harlinsdale Farms from a tract of land he bought near downtown Franklin, Tennessee. The farm became one of the founding Tennessee Walking Horse farms and the home of Midnight Sun, the Walking Horse of the 20th century. It was also home to the first electric power plant in Franklin, which operated on that spot. Today, the farm is owned by the City of Franklin as a public park and is known as “The Mother Church of the Walking Horse World.”
