After Mayor Glenn Medaris’ unexpected passing in 1929, his widow, Mrs. Cora Medaris, continued developing the family real estate. This building, completed in 1931 as one of several she had constructed shortly after his death, became home to the Tennessee Electric Power Company, the largest private electric power company in early Tennessee history. Formed in 1922, TEPCO introduced new electrical conveniences into everyday life for residents.
