During the Colonial Wars at Ticonderoga, troops under the unfortunate Maj. Gen’l. James Abercromby attacked the French lines on July 8th, 1758, and Lieut. Gen’l. Sir Jeffrey Amherst captured Fort Carillon on July 27th, 1759; British and American military units served there in these conflicts.
