Founded before 1867 as the Loyal Lode Mine, this gold mine was worked by the Fremont-Gover Company, which formed in 1872 and operated the Gover in the 1880s and 1890s. The Fremont shaft was sunk in 1903, including a 40 stamp mill, and continued in operation until 1918. Reopened in 1937, the mine was worked until 1940. The Fremont shaft reached 2950 feet deep, the Gover reached 1500 feet on an incline, and total gold production was $5,000,000.
