The Eileen M. Collins Observatory in Corning, New York, is a small astronomical observatory operated by Corning Community College. Named for astronaut Eileen Collins, it functions chiefly as a teaching facility for astronomy classes and also opens for monthly public viewing sessions. Its instruments include reflecting telescopes ranging from four inches to twenty inches in diameter, with the largest built as a one-tenth-scale model of the Hale Telescope at Mount Palomar. Smaller telescopes were assembled by the Elmira-Corning Astronomical Society, and the observatory also maintains an eight-inch Schmidt–Cassegrain telescope and a solar telescope.
