A statue conceived as the “Cadotte” fur trader was carved by sculptor Jerry Holter of Clam Lake, Wisconsin, from a solid section of native Northern White Pine as a symbol of the great lumbering industry in which Cadott Village founder Robert Marriner took part. In its history, the village had a succession of wood industries, including sawmills, an oak tannery, a barrel heading mill, shingle mill, cheese box factory, and hub and spoke factory that employed many men. The cutting of great pines was followed by the present agricultural era.
