Colonel John Siegfried
Military
2
Colonel John Siegfried and the men who served under him in the Northampton County Militia took part in the War of the Revolution, participating in the battles of Assunpink, Germantown, Princeton, White Marsh, Brandywine, Monmouth, and Red Bank, and also served as frontier rangers. At Siegfried's home on July 29, 1779, a notable meeting was held to prevent the depreciation of continental money. The patriotism of the people of old Northampton was also shown by their making and forwarding many woolen blankets and stockings from this place for use by soldiers of the Revolution.
