Hoye - Crest is the highest point in Maryland, on Backbone Mountain in Garrett County, three thousand three hundred sixty feet above sea level. It was named for Captain Charles E. Hoye, founder of the Garrett County Historical Society, and dedicated on September 1, 1952.
