The monument honors Coweta County's Confederate dead as men whom power could not corrupt, death could not terrify, and defeat could not dishonor, and declares that although it is not in mortals to command success, they did more and deserved it. It dates the Confederacy's war years as 1861 - 1865 and records that the monument was erected in 1885.
