This nineteenth century ticket booth, known locally as the Stoney Run Train Station, was restored, preserved, and rededicated by the Maryland Department of Transportation as a pedestrian gateway to the BWI Rail Station. Long significant in the Stoney Run area, it continues as a link to the transportation industry. Marvin and Margaret Wolfe donated the structure to the State of Maryland as a legacy to Marvin's father, Marvin Fulton Wolfe, who was born on June 21, 1906, and died on June 5, 1994. Marvin F. Wolfe worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad as a track foreman from 1927 until retiring in 1973 with a perfect attendance record. His father, Lewis Worthington Wolfe, and his brother, Harford Wolfe, also retired as track foremen from the Pennsylvania Railroad, and together the three men gave more than one hundred thirty-four years of service to the railroad. Marvin Wolfe lived on Stoney Run Road from early childhood, leaving only to serve in World War II, when he fought in the invasion of Normandy. After returning, he married Elsie Hilderbrand, and they raised their children until her death in 1969. Remembered as an extremely hard worker and a humanitarian, he often helped those in need. After the Pennsylvania Railroad ceased operations, his supervisor told him he could keep the station, and it was moved to the nearby Wolfe home. Marvin Wolfe died peacefully at his home on Stoney Run Road in June 1994, surrounded by family and loved ones. After his death, his son Marvin bought the family home and, with his wife Margaret, restored it. When they later decided to sell the home, they chose to donate the historic rail station to the State. The family contacted Heffner and Weber, which was designing and building the new Maryland Department of Transportation headquarters, and the offer was accepted. The Maryland Department of Transportation funded the station's restoration and moved it to its present site a few hundred feet from its original location at the end of Stoney Run Road.
