Blacksmith Shop (Log Barn)
New Richmond, Wisconsin
· New Richmond Heritage Center Pioneer Village
History

This log building was originally used as a barn and was probably built by James Lee around or before 1875. It came from the last home and homestead of Agnes and Anthony Tamoshaitis in the Town of Stanton, about 8 miles northeast of New Richmond, near St. Bridget's Catholic Church on County Road T, and was the only barn along that road at the time. Donated in memory of Agnes' parents, Albert and Alice Ailts, the roof and wall logs were moved separately and reassembled, and it is now used as a combination blacksmith and carpenter shop at the Heritage Center.
