Located along this road, McMillenville was a ghost mining camp where native silver was discovered in 1874 in what became the Stonewall Jackson Ledge. The discovery brought boom conditions that lasted less than 10 years. An Indian attack on the camp was repulsed in 1882, and mine production ceased in the mid 1880's.
