Judge Wm. Henry Lightfoot House
History
7
Judge Wm. Henry Lightfoot built this house in 1876. He was a veteran of Forrest's Cavalry in the Civil War and a law partner of Gen. Sam B. Maxey, who also served as a U. S. Senator. Lumber for the house was hauled from Jefferson. The house has square nails, wide board pine floors that are pegged, and a water well beneath the back porch. Mr. and Mrs. Rodgers Coleman restored it. It became a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1965.
