Clarkson–Legg Covered Bridge is a historic wooden road bridge near Bethel, Alabama, spanning Crooked Creek in a county park west of Cullman. Built in 1904 on land owned by James W. Legg, who advocated better transportation and supplied much of the material, it was first known as the Legg Covered Bridge. The Town lattice truss bridge was badly damaged by a 1921 flood, then rebuilt in 1922 after timbers were recovered downstream. It carried motor traffic until 1962, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, and restored in 1975. Today it remains one of Alabama’s longest covered bridges, beside a park landscape tied to Civil War skirmishes during Streight’s Raid.
