Veterans of the Town of Putnam served their country in World War II and Vietnam, including Pvt. Merrill D. Reid, age 20, who died in Normandy, France, on August 11, 1944; Pfc. Floyd J. Anderson, age 18, who died in the Ruhr Valley, Germany, on March 26, 1945; and Pfc. Thomas A. Bain, age 18, who died in Hau Nghia Province, So. Vietnam, on October 7, 1964. They gave their all and faltered not when came the call.
