Schimpff's Confectionery in Jeffersonville, Indiana, is a historic candy maker, family-run store, and museum rooted in a tradition of candy making that began in the Louisville area in the 1850s. The present shop opened in 1891 under Gustav Schimpff Sr. and Gustav Schimpff Jr., with the family living above the business, reflecting its small-scale character. Despite severe flooding of its first and second levels during the 1937 Ohio River disaster, it remained in family hands. Since 1990, fourth-generation owners Jill and Warren Schimpff have expanded it to include a candy museum and demonstration area, helping make it both a working confectionery and a local attraction.
