First Baptist Church of Oglesby traces its history to 1893, when a revival was held in Oglesby, and the congregation's official founding date is September 1896. J.M.B. Gresham was elected the church's first pastor, and services were held once or twice monthly until 1937. The first church building was destroyed by fire in 1913 and replaced in 1914, and additions were made over the years to accommodate the church's activities. The congregation supports traditional spiritual programs and has a long history of missionary outreach and community involvement.
