After the Battle of Pleasant Hill, the Confederate army, which had control of the battlefield, began burying the dead soldiers. One of the sites chosen was on the Childers Family property, part of the battlefield. Here, some of the soldiers killed on the battlefield were buried in a mass grave. All are unknown. They are honored for their bravery and courage in paying the ultimate price for their beliefs.
