In Level Cross, North Carolina, the Richard Petty Museum preserves the Petty family’s NASCAR legacy in the community where that history began. Established in 1998, it draws on family collections and stands near landmarks tied to the family, including the Petty Garage, the A-Frame Building, and the Lee Petty House. Its exhibits include memorabilia, family artifacts, historic vehicles such as a rare Plymouth Superbird, and displays on Lee Petty, Richard Petty, Maurice Petty, and Dale Inman, all members of the NASCAR Hall of Fame. After moving to nearby Randleman in 2003, it returned to Level Cross in 2014, restoring its connection to the family’s home place.
