Duncan Hines, born in Bowling Green in 1880, became an authority on restaurants and lodgings in the U.S. by noting good eating places and inns he encountered on business trips. His observations led to annual editions of Adventures in Good Eating and Lodging for a Night, and he also authored Vacation Guide and Adventures in Good Cooking. He died in 1959 and was buried in Fairview Cemetery.
