In 1975, The Kresge Foundation recognized Hillsdale College for its renewed commitment to the study of the liberal arts with a challenge grant that attracted generous private support. Hillsdale College realized its vision to establish a Center for Traditional Studies, a classroom and office facility building on the main campus. Today, these studies flourish in Lane Hall and Kendall Hall. Support for construction of the Kresge Center for Traditional Studies came from The Kresge Foundation, The Charles A. Dana Foundation, Herrick Foundation, Simpson Foundation, Matilda R. Wilson Fund, Windsor H. Roberts Memorial Fund, Plym Foundation, Hillsdale College Parent Association, the Doris Mauck Fredrichs Classroom Wing, The Pew Charitable Trusts, Ransom Fidelity Company, George and Frances Ball Foundation, and Susie and Harvey C.
