Founded in 1871 with 24 charter members, this was the first congregation organized in the community, before the town was platted in 1872. The Rev. William C. Lewis was the first pastor. Early trustees included W. H. Cherry, Thomas Cox, R. D. McClellan, P. H. Merchant, John W. Moore, S. R. Mullen, H. Petway, W. A. Rector, W. B. Seay, and T. G. B. Willard. B. J. Fletcher served as lay delegate to the 1902-03 annual conferences. The first church building was erected in 1879. Originally part of a circuit, Giddings became a station charge in 1938. The present sanctuary was built in 1957.
