Clear Creek Wildlife Management Area
Nature
Clear Creek Wildlife Management Area is a 52,559-acre protected tract in Vernon Parish in western Louisiana, managed by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries under a lease from Hancock Timber. Shaped by the region’s timber industry, it consists largely of planted company timberland rather than untouched forest, reflecting earlier ownership changes and large timber transactions. Roads and water define much of its boundaries, with Bayou Anacoco forming the eastern and southern edge, while highways and local roads cross the tract. Its managed landscape includes a sand pit, a logging pond, and the Evans lookout tower, combining conservation use with a working-forest character.
