When the Oahe Dam was built, taming the Missouri River, the resulting reservoir backed up 231 miles. The dam was completed in 1962 and was dedicated by President John F. Kennedy. The body of water, named Lake Oahe, has 2,250 miles of shoreline and ample opportunity for fishermen and water lovers alike.
