Built by Dr. Stephen Cocke as a hunting lodge on Green Lake from hand-hewn pine lumber bought in New York, the structure was torn down in 1854, its boards numbered, and then rebuilt on its present site. Since 1871 it has been the home of pioneer lawyer William L. Callender and his descendants.
