Starting on Sept. 1, 1904, an electric interurban line operated by TMER&L ran along this route, splitting at St. Martin’s Junction with one branch to Burlington and the Muskego Lakes Line to East Troy. On Sundays, as many as 42 cars carried riders back to Milwaukee from Muskego Beach Amusement Park at the north end of Pioneer Dr., and extra passenger cars were stored on a track loop in what is now Horn Field. Area farmers also shipped milk and other produce from this location. Muskego’s main stops were at Sobek’s Resort on Woods Road and at two hotels here on Pioneer Dr., Smith’s Hotel-Tavern-Train Station and the Ctibor Hotel, kitty corner from each other. Service through Muskego ended on August 12, 1939, but runs from Milwaukee to Hales Corners continued until June 30, 1951, and part of the line between Mukwonago and East Troy still operates today as the East Troy Electric Railroad.
