Corps of Discovery is a site-specific public artwork based on the Lewis and Clark Expedition, with concepts and images developed in respect to the rich history of Woodbury County. Integrated throughout the building and site, its components were designed by public artist David Buell Dahlquist and fabricated by Dahlquist Clayworks in Des Moines, Iowa. The work also represents the talents and skills of Clayworks artisans Marcy Lloyd, Rick Stewart, Brian Frederiksen, Catherine McCabe, John Swan, Larry Bredeson, and Jim Dawson of Iowa Metal Fabrication for the Iowa Department of Transportation in March 2000.
