Broad Canyon Wilderness is a 13,902-acre federally protected area in southern New Mexico within Organ Mountains–Desert Peaks National Monument. Managed by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management, it occupies the eastern end of the Sierra de las Uvas, where rugged volcanic ground transitions into the surrounding Chihuahuan Desert. Established in 2019, the area is marked by small canyons carved by water through ancient lava flows, producing a landscape of rocky washes and open desert. Its terrain reflects both its volcanic origin and the long effects of erosion from seasonal runoff, giving the wilderness its distinctive character and significance within the monument.
