Around 1805, in what was reputedly the scene of one of the last massacres in Kentucky, the McClures and Kennedys lived on hills above Bullocks Pen Creek and the Bran family occupied a cabin on the creek at the foot of the hills. A party of Indians burned the Bran home after scalping the parents and children. All died except the mother, who crawled to the Kennedy house and eventually recovered.
