Booker T. Washington State Park is a 353-acre Tennessee park on Chickamauga Lake near Chattanooga, where boating, fishing, swimming, and picnicking have long defined its appeal. Built largely by African-American units of the Civilian Conservation Corps, it holds special historical importance because, during segregation, it was one of only two Tennessee state parks designated for Black visitors until the Civil Rights Act of 1964 ended discrimination in public accommodations. Today it remains both a recreation destination and a historic site, with picnic areas, docks, a boat ramp, a fishing pier, a seasonal Olympic-size pool, and trails for mountain biking along the lakeshore.
