The Ashtabula River was delisted as an Area of Concern in 2021 after more than 30 years of dedicated efforts by federal, state, and local agencies, industrial partners, and many individual contributors. As a result of significant remediation and restoration, the river is once again able to live up to its Indigenous name, the "river of many fish." It now supports a healthy mix of recreational, commercial, and industrial users, and its clean water and sediment will enable the community to enjoy this precious natural resource well into the future.
