The Hendricks County War Memorial honors Hendricks County servicemen who answered the call of duty and the county’s veterans who gave their lives in defense of the country, while also remembering all deceased veterans of all wars buried in Hendricks County. It grew from a Jaycee dream in 1989 into a reality on Dedication Day, July 4, 1992, through the support of the county’s citizens. Beneath the stone is a time capsule containing the story of that dream, to be opened on July 4, 2042. The memorial also preserves the names of county war dead from World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.
