During the 1930’s, Pascual Huerta and other men helped build this stone building. Huerta and his German Sheperd walked daily from near Stegall, Nebraska to Scottsbluff, gathering stones along the way. His goal was to establish a museum in Pioneer Park and to demonstrate his skills as a stone mason. After he was no longer able to continue working as a stone mason, he worked until retirement in the beet fields of this valley. The building also honors Mexican people for their valuable contribution to this valley.
